Operation middlweight gold successful for Rafal!
Rafal stays unbeaten and wins „CFN“ middleweight gold. The next champion at the “Home of Champions”!
Rafal continues to ride on his winning streak making it 4 out 4 first round wins to secure the “CFN” middleweight belt. It has to be said that there was a slight feeling of disappointment as Rafal could only feature active in his semifinal fight. The home town hero Maurce van Wayenberghe was able to win his first fight against Andre Schug via Rear Naked Choke in the first round but couldn´t continue in the tournament as he injured his left knee. Rafal therefore was crowned as Champion without a final fight. We are certain that this fight will happen as soon as Maurice has recovered and wish him all the best in doing so.
Speaking of the fight replay against Dutch fighter Tony Michielsen (4-1-0), who has been cornered by Golden Glory star instructor Martijn de Jong. Rafal stormed forward right after the bell only to press his opponent against the fence and to secure an early trip takedown to land in Tony´s guard, who directly started to work for a triangle choke. Rafal started his vicious trademark ground and pound only to pass the guard for side control- landing more strikes.
Michielsen showed determination and could capture the guard again- to work his second submission attempt. He was now going for an armbar, only to be lifted (under the cheers of the crowd) in the air and being power slammed to the canvas. A few more punches were landed from side control and the referee had no other choice but to stop the fight.
Rafal and Team Spirit could travel home injury free, but there is not a lot of time to rest for the new Champion as he will enter the ring in only 2 weeks time at Vienna´s “Vendetta 3”.
A big thanks to his sponsor Boxhaus!
